HOWLAND PUBLIC LIBRARY OFFERS STREAMING MUSIC

HPL now offers our cardholders the ability to stream entire music albums every day as part of its free online music offering.  The new initiative, part of Freegal 4.0, provides HPL cardholders with increased access to over 6 million songs from 28,000 recording labels that originate in over 80 countries. Included is the complete local catalog of Sony Music Entertainment. Also, Freegal Music Service has over 15,000 popular music videos for download as MP4 files.

HPL card holders still can download (and keep) three MP3 Freegal Music tracks each week, and stream three hours each day at no direct cost. Go to www.beaconlibrary.org and click on the Freegal logo.

Freegal Music Service has free mobile apps for HPL cardholders. Freegal Music apps are available in the Apple® App Store and Google Play®.

HPL is one of 3,500 libraries from all over the world that subscribe to the Freegal® Music Service. The library was able to purchase this Freegal 4.0 subscription with the help of supporters of Beacon Reads Bookstore at 309 Main Street.  Beacon Reads is co-managed by Vicki Blucher and Marcia Frahman for the Friends of the Howland Public Library.  Special thanks to Friends of HPL treasurer Marion Imperatore.

People who live in the Beacon City School District who don’t have an HPL card can bring proof of ID and proof of residence to the Howland Public Library at 313 Main Street in Beacon.  HPL serves the community seven days a week.  An HPL card provides access to Freegal 4.0 and many other databases and to a collection of millions of books, DVDs, music CDs, and more from HPL and libraries throughout the region and the world.

For information about Freegal 4.0 and other library offerings, contact Fanny Keaton, Director, at 845-831-1134 or email director@beaconlibrary.org.
